If we want to keep certain freedoms we have to fight for them.

Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr says. “Freedom is not free”

There will always be folks out there who enjoy power, profits and prestige who seek to acquire more.

On Jan 24th, Congress will vote to pass internet censorship in the Senate, even though the vast majority of Americans are opposed. We need to kill the bill – PIPA in the Senate and SOPA in the House – to protect our rights to free speech, privacy, and prosperity.

SoulSWEET Sanctuary.com is BACK!

It has been so long and let me just say that I have missed you much. Please be patient while I get the site up and running again. I plan to profile artists. Let you know about dope events happening at SoulSWEET Sanctuary and sister organizations. Talk about issues relevant to our communities’ growth. Yeah all of that and more.

For now SoulSWEET Sanctuary Open MIc is every Saturday unless listed otherwise such as on December 17, 2011–We will be having a special benefit concert to raise funds for Sistas on the Rise, a non-profit organization that works to engage and empower young mothers, womyn and girls to end generational poverty, violence, sexual exploitation and abuse. It will be at the Bahai Center off of 11th and University–the home of Urban Juke Joint.  More details to Follow.

And January 7th, we will be at another location. Will definitely keep you posted on that!! Oh I am so happy to be back and can’t wait to share the sheer magic that is SoulSWEET Sanctuary with any and every one.
